I was recently asked by our sister company in Denver, BlabberMouth to perform a detailed review on a company called YourProfitWeb who’s website is YourProfitWeb.com. BlabberMounth’s B.R.A.T Team (Business Resolution Action Team) informed us that they have had numerous inquires about this business and to the effectiveness of the service they are soliciting as well as the trustworthiness of the company.

Google started it, but more search engines are following suite and using link popularity as an important ranking factor for your website - this is when companies like YourProfitWeb were created… Many webmasters and businesses alike started joining link farms and filling their websites with as many links as possible; the catch? Not all links are equal - in fact bad linking strategies can ultimately get your website banned from some search engines.

What is a link farm?

A link farm is a group of websites that link to other websites for the sole purpose of increasing their link popularity / authority score. Google suggest that the best way to achieve a better score is to attract links naturally - many companies and businesses like YourProfitWeb do not do this; they sell links (which Google plain out states is wrong - and you will be penalized when they find out you are participating).  In a nutshell - stay away from YourProfitWeb.

Your considering on purchasing links anyway… why should you avoid linking schemes like the plague and think again?

SEARCH ENGINES HATE LINK FARMS!!! Search Engines have gotten wise to these techniques and are taking SERIOUS action against websites who participate in them… here are some examples.

AllTheWeb’s spam policy is to:

disregard Link Stuffing when building the index and computing static rank, and to reduce the static rank of the documents containing it.

Google warns against “artificial linkage” (translation: link farms and link stuffing) and warns that if you link to spam sites, Google’s algorithm may penalize your site.

AltaVista’s spam policy warns that sites may be deleted from the index if they “contain only links to other pages.”

What is my official opinion on YourProfitWeb.com? Avoid them like the plague - your likely to get yourself banned. Their sales approach alone should be enough to send up red flags high into the sky…

Before I leave… here is an example email from YourProfitWeb.com; this is a typical “Red Flag” email that these types of businesses send out…

Your Website.com, Recently I was looking in the search engines for the term “Some random search term” and found your website YourWebsiteName.com ranked at 25 (which is all the way back on page 3). We both know that hardly anyone looks past page two any more, so with your rank for this keyword, no one is finding you. But all is not lost, (not even in this economy). You site is one of the better ones in your market and there is no reason why you couldn\’t rank higher for your keyword terms. The only thing you are lacking is something called \”backlinks\”.
